FAQ
What MECHASSURE is, and is not.
A short list of the questions the working group has been asked most often.
§ 1
Questions and answers
- Is MECHASSURE an insurer?
- No. MECHASSURE does not sell, broker, place, underwrite, or rate insurance. It publishes an open verification profile.
- Is MECHASSURE legal advice?
- No. MECHASSURE verifies evidentiary fitness of a bundle. It does not opine on the underlying legal conclusion.
- Does MECHASSURE certify that an AI system is safe?
- No. It verifies whether the record of an AI-assisted decision has been preserved well enough for an insurer to review.
- What does MECHASSURE actually do?
- It defines a free, open, BAINK-compatible bundle profile and ships a local verifier and JSON schemas insurers can use to inspect the evidence record.
- How is it related to Legal OREO and BAINK?
- Legal OREO structures the proof. BAINK seals the bundle. MECHASSURE lets insurers verify whether the bundle is insurable.
- What does it cost?
- Schemas, templates, and the verifier are free. The standard is open. Implementation services and private profiles live elsewhere.
- Can an insurer rely on a MECHASSURE-ready report alone?
- No. A MECHASSURE-ready bundle is fit for insurer review. The insurer still owns the coverage decision and any legal-adequacy judgment.
